Upper Blue Lake Dam Seismic Retrofit, Field Engineering Support

Slate Geotechnical Consultants performed construction observation and field engineering support services on behalf of the client for a seismic retrofit of an earthen embankment dam with a potential liquefaction and slope instability hazard on the upstream slope. The seismic retrofit included construction of a new rockfill buttress on the upstream side of the dam and installation of a new intake structure. Slate discussed engineering issues with the team at daily meetings, managed quality control inspections, confirmed compliance with project specifications, sent the project team daily engineering report, and coordinated regular DSOD and FERC inspections.
