Slate provided geotechnical engineering services in support of the seismic evaluation of the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital West Parking Garage.
The site is located in Palo Alto and is occupied by a one-story below-grade parking garage, which was designed in 1989. Slate provided seismic evaluation services, including a liquefaction and site response analysis, for the proposed seismic upgrade of the garage.
Services included a subsurface investigation with cone penetration tests (CPTs), evaluation of liquefaction-induced settlement and lateral spread potential, analysis of seismically induced compaction/densification, seismic design parameters based on site class, and a site response analysis of a liquified and non-liquified subsurface conditions using DEEPSOIL, in accordance with ASCE/SEI 7-16 and ASCE/SEI 41-17.
