Slate has provided engineering geology support to a penstock geohazards inspection program for the last four years. These penstocks support powerhouses providing power to their respective regions across California, ranging from Fresno County to Shasta County.
Since some of the penstocks have been continually active since 1920, they require regular inspections to ensure adequate performance. The penstocks range in length, age, and materials, meaning multiple methods of geohazard inspection are being used. Slate is providing engineering geology services for the re-inspection of the penstocks, condition assessments of their components, mapping and recording of identified geohazards, and documentation.
