Slate is part of a team providing services under an on-call contract to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), San Francisco District. We provided engineering services for the following task orders:

Oakland Turning Basin, Alameda County

Slate prepared a Geotechnical Data Report (GDR) summarizing the Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) exploration at Howard Terminal for the Oakland Turning Basin Widening Study. The geotechnical subsurface investigation involved performing five CPT soundings from ground surface to refusal. The project evaluates the feasibility of widening the Oakland Inner Harbor turning basin to accommodate larger vessels. USACE will use the subsurface investigation data to assess subsurface conditions and geologic hazards in support of determining project feasibility and in preliminary engineering design.

Bel Marin Keys Cone Penetration Testing

Slate is providing Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) for the Bel Marin Keys wetland restoration project. Our scope of services includes the development of a work plan, CPTs at several locations throughout the site, field work observation, and report development.

Pajaro River Flood Risk Management Project Geomorphology Study

In Monterey and Santa Cruz counties, the USACE aims to reduce flood risk along the Salsipuedes and Coralitos creeks by raising existing levees, constructing floodwalls, and constructing new levees. Slate is providing project management of a geologic and geomorphology study of the area. Slate will also help manage optional tasks performed by subconsultants, including subsurface investigations through CPT exploration, exploratory borings, laboratory testing, a borrow-source investigation on the existing levee and agricultural areas, and reporting on the geotechnical results.

Slate is also providing services for a separate contract with the USACE Sacramento District.
