Slate Geotechnical Consultants performed earthquake-related geologic and geotechnical hazards assessments for existing Fish & Wildlife Service facilities located throughout the country. Facilities include National Wildlife Refuges, National Fish Hatcheries, Migratory Bird Refuges, welcome centers, administrative offices, dormitories, and laboratories. The goal of the program is to enhance seismic resilience across the U.S. by reducing earthquake-related risk and allowing for uninterrupted performance of federally owned and leased buildings.
Project sites have included locations in Alaska, Arkansas, California, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, and Wyoming. For each site, we reviewed historical regional seismicity including significant earthquakes that may have affected the site or its immediate vicinity. We also assessed each site with respect to earthquake shaking, fault rupture, liquefaction, lateral spreading, settlement, and landsliding.
